Developing a safety net for urban marginalized and disadvantaged children

Implementing area: 7 slum areas in Dhaka city and in the outskirts: Dhanmondi, Fotullah, Lalbag, Mohammadpur, Pallabi and Tongi thanas.

Beneficiaries: It will target 6,500 children from the most marginalized and disadvantaged sections of society like Dalit and Bihari communities and children with disabilities and their families

Asserting Human Rights of Women-in-prostitution's children

Implementing Area: Jamalpur and Jessore

Beneficiaries: around 300 children of sex workers who are usually marginalized and discriminated by the society, do not have access to basic services such education and healthcare facilities

Duration of the current phase: until December 2011

Education in Dhaka


Implementing area: 7 slum areas in Dhaka city and in the outskirts: Dhanmondi, Fotullah, Lalbag, Mohammadpur, Pallabi and Tongi thanas

Beneficiaries: 3,000 direct beneficiaries who benefit from nutritional programmes, health care services, vocational training, counseling, pre-primary, primary and support to attend high education. Moreover, through two shelter homes (one for boys and one for girls), the project offers protection to 100 children living on the streets of the capital city.

Duration of the current phase: 36 months (March 2010 to February 2013)

Education in Rural Areas

Implementing area: Kurigram

Beneficiaries: 1,500 children who benefit of pre-primary and primary education as well as healthy and balanced daily meals. Moreover the project provides support with educational material for students who enroll in local high schools and colleges and sensitization to their  mothers

Duration of the current phase: 48 months (January 2010 to December 2013)

Promoting safe migration and local development in four districts in Bangladesh

Implementing area: Dhaka city, Dohar, Brahmanbaria Sadar, Gournadi and Noria.

Beneficiaries: 162,000 migrant community members through awareness raising, skills development and institutional capacity building

Duration: 36 months (April 2009 to April 2012)

TRAFFICKED – a project to raise awareness about child trafficking in Bangladesh

Implementing area: Dhaka, Dinajpur, Faridpur, Jamalpur, Jessore, Kurigram, Patuakhali, Pirganj, Saidpur, Shatkhira and Thakurgaon

Beneficiaries: 20,000 local community members. Thanks to an itinerant photographic exhibition of Shehzad Noorani's pictures

Duration: 7 months (from July 2010 to January 2011)
